2012 Nissan Versa Named Top Safety Pick by IIHS

As the accolades for the 2nd Generation Nissan Versa continue to pour in, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently named the sedan a 2012 Top Safety Pick. In order to receive this honor, a vehicle must have electronic stability control, pass a roof strength test, and receive the highest rating of “Good” for front, side, and rear impact. The 2012 Nissan Versa passed each test with flying colors and Nissan is prepared to maintain this prestigious honor long into the future.

Nissan North America Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Brian Carolin had this tom say: “Nissan remains committed to the highest levels of safety and innovation, as is reflected in the Nissan Versa Sedan receiving the Top Safety Pick from IIHS. The 2012 Versa provides customers with a remarkable level of value, comfort and security for an MSRP starting under $11,000.”

The 2012 Nissan Versa offers a variety of standard safety equipment including six airbags, brake assist, and ABS. All of the safety improvements on the 2nd Generation 2012 Nissan Versa garnered attention from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as well. The NHTSA awarded three stars for frontal impacts, four stars for rollover accidents, and four stars for side impacts.

But don’t think the 2012 Nissan Versa is all safety ratings and no fun. Owners will be able to enjoy navigation with 5-inch touch screen display, Satellite Radio, iPod/USB interface, and steering wheel controlled Bluetooth. For a brand new vehicle starting around $11,000, that is a lot of technology. Both front and rear passengers will certainly thank you for the extra legroom and due to the 2012 Nissan Versa weighing less than its predecessor it is able to achieve nearly 30/37 MPG.

Although gizmos and gadgets are enjoyable luxuries, the safety of your passengers is mandatory. Regardless if he accident was your fault or not, you would feel horrible if one of your passengers was seriously injured due to your car having substandard safety features.  IHHS Top Safety Pick is almost like a reassuring pat on the back.
